BALLET TOTS

Ballet Tots is all about music, movement, coordination, spatial relations and the basics of ballet that will hopefully lead to many fun-filled years of dancing and self-expression. Children will learn to identify basic forms of movement through imaginative games, songs, music and rhythmical patterns while fostering independence in a friendly group setting.  

DRESS CODE: Leotard, tights and ballet slippers.

BALLET BEGINNERS

Ballet Beginners will spend time learning the positions of the arms and feet, as well as, learning basic ballet steps. Children will learn various stretches, utilizing props to increase flexibility and an understanding of how their muscles coordinate to help them dance. Dancers will also be taught to travel from one corner of the room to the next by way of basic turns, jumps, and leaps. 

DRESS CODE: Leotard, tights and ballet slippers.

BALLET 1

Ballet I will begin class with floor stretches, then go to the ballet barre and learn basic steps and positions, which will be combined to create simple combinations.  They will be taught about maintaining correct posture, which in ballet, involves everything from the feet up through the top of the head.  They will learn the names of the steps and what they mean in the French language.  Children will attempt new jumps and execute them with more repetition. 

DRESS CODE: Leotard, tights and ballet slippers.

JAZZ DANCE 1

This class introduces Jazz technique and terminology, and will focus on correct jazz training and creative movement. Beginners welcome! 

Dress code:  Leotard with leggings, or fitted shorts, jazz shoes.

This class introduces Tap technique and terminology, and will focus on major motor skills development and tap fundamentals.  Dress code: Leotard or other non-restrictive clothing, tap shoes.

Build the City of the Future

Stretch your imagination, engineering and design skills as we plan and create a model of the city of the future! Using the 3Dux Design Architectural modeling system, we will recreate a model community out of cardboard, connectors and any others up-cycled and craft materials we choose. We can even electrify and photograph our city, invent new forms of transportation, solve issues like overcrowding or come up with new sustainable solutions… the possibilities are endless. At the end of the program, each child will come home with their very own community build/kit.

Coding in Sports

Learn to Program Sports with coding! Children are introduced to the JavaScript block coding environment. Children will create an environment of their own sports video games. Through these fun learning activities kids learn how to follow only specific instruction and how creative it can be to program a video game with almost limitless potential!

LEGO ENGINEERING *NEW*

Each week participants take on new projects such as mobile vehicles, cities, creative structures and more.  Learn how to solve a problem, develop critical thinking skills,  gain resilience, and work succesfully as a team.

MUSIC LESSONS

The Y teaches children of all ages to find joy in learning new instruments while developing their musical skills. We offer lessons for musicians of all abilities in various instruments.
