Fitness Concierge

Role and Responsibilities

The Fitness Concierge is responsible for managing the fitness floor, being responsive to members and guests by aiding, and educating members on the safe and correct use of cardio and weight training equipment. This person answers facility-related questions, provides a warm welcoming to the members, and sells personal training packages.

Essential Functions

  • Scheduling personal training sessions for new members
  • Assists the Health and Wellness Director with new member outreach and follow-up with infrequent users
  • Maintain a clean, safe and orderly fitness floor, racking weights. Includes picking up loose towels, water bottles, magazines, cleaning equipment, etc.
  • Perform blood pressure checks
  • Support, teach, and encourage members to meet his/her fitness goals
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new fitness programs/classes
  • Develop relationships and encourage member referrals
  • Enforce YMCA policies, such as cell phone use, etc.
  • Attend fitness department and fitness training meetings and continuing education classes to keep certifications current
  • Administer emergency care to members and guests in need of assistance
  • Work as a TEAM with all other departments
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor

Other Functions

  • Be knowledgeable about all programs and activities offered by YMCA Greenwich
  • Promote facility services and activities
  • Assist with keeping the wellness center well stocked and clean
  • Handle injury and illness and security incident reporting

Requirements:

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • 2 or 4-years college degree in fitness-related field or certificate from an accredited 2-year program at a university preferred
  • Previous health club personal training experience is a plus
  • Communication skills, customer service oriented
  • Previous health club personal training experience is a plus.
  • Be well-organized and highly efficient when managing your work.
  • Be a team player and show a willingness to learn new things.
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, and highly responsive with a commitment to customer service
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills, customer service skills, results-oriented, ability to multitask, and commitment to the fitness industry
  • AED/CPR/First Aid Certified
  • Proof of citizenship or legal status

Physical and Working Conditions

  • Ability to take the responsibility for the health and safety of others
  • Ability to stand for several hours in the same shift; ability to lift 45 lbs
  • Fitness club environment
  • Must follow OSHA and Active Wellness safety standards
