Adult Aquatics

At the YMCA, we believe that swimming and aquatic fitness are for everyone. That’s why we offer a diverse range of adult aquatic programs designed to cater to all skill levels and fitness goals. Whether you’re looking to learn how to swim, stay fit, or join a community of swim enthusiasts, we have something for you.

Group Swim Lessons

Our adult swim lessons are designed for non-swimmers and swimmers ages 18 and older who want to be more comfortable in the water with proper strokes and breathing techniques. In adult lessons, swimmers will learn the skills needed to start swimming longer distances and feel comfortable in deep water without a floatation device.

Water exercise is safe, effective and fun for all ages and all abilities, from a beginner to the professional athlete. Buoyancy creates a reduced impact exercise alternative that is easy on the joints, while the water’s resistance challenges the muscles. Visit our Schedules page for the most updated class schedule.

AQUAFit

This class utilizes both the shallow and deep end of our warm water pool and will  work endurance, toning, strength training, flexibility and range of motion.

HYDROFIT

Focus on cardio, strength and flexibility. This exercise will reduce stress on joints and muscles. The water resistance and use of different aquatic equipment will give your muscles tone and reduce body fat as you work at your own level of intensity. This class is suitable for all levels of fitness. This class is offered in the Olympic Pool deep end, Olympic Pool shallow end and our Warm Water Pool.

SHALLOW WATER WALKING

Walk your way to fitness using the resistance of the water. Fun and easy with long-lasting results. Reduce the risk of injury by lessening the impact on weight-bearing joints, muscles, and bones, plus it offers an excellent opportunity for muscle toning and body sculpting. Water walking shoes are recommended.

Masters Swim

The Marlins Masters Swim adult, year-round program offers three progressive levels:  beginner, intermediate, and advanced.

The coaches will provide instruction to improve freestyle technique as well as confidence for the other 3 competitive swim strokes: Butterfly, Backstroke, and Breaststroke.

We focus on drills as well as gaining endurance in the water.  Suited for the beginner swimmer who wants to become more proficient in the water and for die-hard swimmers, former competitive swimmers, and fitness enthusiasts.
