I hope this email finds you healthy and safe.

Friday marks the one-year anniversary of the Y’s closure due to COVID-19. It has been a trying period for all of us but we are happy to say that we have made it this far and all the trends are pointing towards continued improvement. Last March, we asked our Members to “Stay with Us” during our mandated, 100-day closure. Through your support and dedication, we were able to continue operating during our closure and remain open for a subsequent 265 days. Neighboring YMCAs in New York City, Philadelphia, Boston and Rhode Island cannot make the same statement.

There is more below about how far we have come but we want to thank you for your support of the YMCA by hosting a Member event in the Lounge on March 12 beginning at 8 AM. Coffee and various edibles will be shared in a safe and socially distant environment. We look forward to seeing you there so we can thank you in person for your support.

Stay Healthy and Safe!

At the time of our closure, we were in desperate need to replace some key infrastructure systems.

  • Today, we have a new chiller for the building, dehumidification systems for both our pools and will be replacing our domestic hot water system later this month and our pool filter system later this year.
  • We are providing the level of air quality that only new state-of-the-art systems can deliver.

We have increased our cleaning and disinfecting protocols

  • Have heard from many of you that the Y has never been cleaner.

Like all parties, the Y was not totally immune to COVID-19. We have had some Members and staff test positive for COVID-19; however:

  • Our contact tracing indicates that none of those cases originated at the Y
  • Through diligent safety protocols, none of our cases spread to others.

We have had our ups and downs with our Membership due to restriction implementation and related comfort level of coming to a wellness facility.

  • March 2021 attendance at the Y has been the best since our June reopening
    • The 5 highest Member scan days have all occurred this month
    • Our March 2021 attendance is 95% of comparable days in March 2020
  • Vaccine has been distributed for three months with continued expansion based upon age and special need groups that should minimize spread.
  • State COVID-19 positivity and hospitalizations are all trending positively and the Governor has announced upcoming easing of restrictions.
    • The detailed rules surrounding March 19 are due to be released in the coming days.
    • Stay tuned.
