Fall Programs Registration & Reminders

A Message from Michael Kelly, C.O.O.

I hope this message finds you and your families healthy and safe and that you had a chance to enjoy the beautiful holiday weekend.

FALL PROGRAMMING

As you have hopefully seen, an e-news announcement was sent earlier this week that included the Fall Brochure, our new hours and updated class schedules.  Personally, I am happy to see Group Power return to Sunday mornings, the Greenwich Road Runners returning to Wednesday mornings beginning this week and the Tri-Club returning to the schedule.  More details on these and the multitude of other programs and classes in the message/link/brochure – I encourage you to take a look at all the Y has to offer.

REMINDER TO MEMBERSRegistration for Non-Members opens on Monday – sign up today!

GREENWICH VOTER REGISTRATION

On the subject of registration, exercising your right to vote is a social responsibility that we take seriously at the Y.  Partnering with the League of Women Voters Greenwich, we are happy to help celebrate National Voter Registration Day on September 22.  Please see the attached letter with important links for registration and absentee ballots.

ADDITIONAL REMINDERS

  • Reservation System
    • Reservations should only be made 48 hours in advance. While our new App shows available sessions beyond two days, if you have booked further out, you may have received a cancellation email from us. We are working on a programming solution, but in the interim and to be fair to your fellow Members, please do not make reservations beyond 48 hours.
    • No-shows – Life happens, we understand you may not always be able to make your reservation. Cancelling your reservation is quick and easy and allows another Member to participate. Simply…
      • Login to the App
      • Find your booked time and click on the session
      • The “Cancel” button is located on the bottom of the screen
      • Confirm and you’re done
    • Lane Sharing – Rest assured, I have shared a lane multiple times and found it did not impede my workout, nor did I feel that I was jeopardizing my health. Unfortunately, we do have some Members reserving the second spot in the pool lane with a fictitious swim partner so they do not have to share a lane. Keep in mind, by doing so you are potentially blocking another Member from accessing the facility at that time. Please be mindful – we will continue to monitor and address accordingly.
  • Entrances – For safety and security measures, as well as to verify your reservation, everyone should check-in at the Front Desk, regardless of where you enter the building. Back in March, for added security and ease of entrance, we planned for expanded keycard access from Putnam Avenue and lower Garage, when reservations were not required. However, it is important that you check-in and confirm your reservation, regardless if you have keyed in via one of these entrances, to assure that we know you honored your reservation and were in the building should we need to contact specific participants on a given day.
  • Prompt Transition – we embrace the sense of community that is the YMCA and the ability for people of all ages to come together in our shared mission. That said, in this pandemic world, we have to be mindful of occupancy levels and social distancing.  As a parent and lifelong fan of aquatic sports, nobody more than me likes to watch our swimmers swim, divers dive and water polo players play.  While we are not trying to rush anyone from the facility, our reduced capacity does not permit us to linger on the deck, especially during transition times.  The day will come when we will have such capacity; unfortunately, we are not there now.  Your cooperation is appreciated.

Stay Healthy, Safe & Thriving!
