Y SPORTS SAMPLER *NEW*

Each week brings a fun and different sport to our gym in this team sports sampler.  Kidswill enjoy a variety of different team sports, including basketball, floor hockey, kickball, dodgeball, and more!

YOUTH Y-DO KARATE

BEGINNERS

Have fun meet new friends and learn the fundamentals of Karate in a non-competitive environment. Uniform can be purchased through the instructor after the first class.

INTERMEDIATE

Combines fitness, self-defense, sport, discipline, and self-confidence.  Learn a variety of tactics that involve punches, kicks, blocks, take downs, and weapon defense. You will work closely with an experienced teacher while having fun and keeping fit!

YOUTH SOCCER

Soccer is an exciting sport combining team play and individual skills. Child-to-coach ratios and positive reinforcement ensure that each child improves at his or her own pace while having a blast! Every participant gets to play and the games are safe, exciting and fun. We encourage fair play, positive competition and family involvement.

TINY DIVERS

This class introduces young athletes to the fundamentals of diving in a non-aquatic environment, using our unique springfloor studio built especially for the Marlins Dive Club.  Tiny divers will build off of gymnastics fundamentals to learn proper technique, form and balance that will establish a strong foundation for aquatic based diving down the road.

Y WARRIORS

Improve your strength and stamina for any activity. This fun workout consists of sports drills, obstacle courses, jump rope, circuits, games and fun! Get moving!

Class focuses on physical strength and fitness, working on body composure and coordination while enjoying a safe, fun practice of Parkour (a training discipline using movement that developed from military obstacle course training).

TEEN WELLNESS PASS CERTIFICATION

The YMCA of Greenwich Wellness Center is available to teens 15 years or older. Teens between the ages of 13-14 may earn a wellness “PASS” for usage at select times and days by completing a comprehensive training. During each session, trainers will provide an orientation to equipment usage and safety, as well as base fitness parameters and programs.  Trainers will also provide wellness and nutrition tips along with workout regimes suitable for growing athletes of this age. FOR YMCA OF GREENWICH MEMBERS ONLY. 

Pre-requisites for earning a YMCA of Greenwich wellness “PASS” are completion of one of the following:

  • 10 (30 minute) one-on-one private training sessions.
  • 10 (30 minute) semi-private training sessions.

Once students have completed all sessions and demonstrated competence, they may use the wellness center during the following times:

  • Daily, from 3-5pm, on their own
  • Anytime with an adult 21+

This program is also designed for young adults who simply want to learn how to work out correctly and safely while under the supervision of a YMCA certified personal trainer.

BOXING: PEE-WEE

Our youngest boxers will learn discipline and focus as they learn boxing basics in a fast paced and fun environment.   Mental toughness is guaranteed!
