YOUTH Y-DO KARATE

BEGINNERS

Have fun meet new friends and learn the fundamentals of Karate in a non-competitive environment. Uniform can be purchased through the instructor after the first class.

INTERMEDIATE

Combines fitness, self-defense, sport, discipline, and self-confidence.  Learn a variety of tactics that involve punches, kicks, blocks, take downs, and weapon defense. You will work closely with an experienced teacher while having fun and keeping fit!

YOUTH SOCCER

Soccer is an exciting sport combining team play and individual skills. Child-to-coach ratios and positive reinforcement ensure that each child improves at his or her own pace while having a blast! Every participant gets to play and the games are safe, exciting and fun. We encourage fair play, positive competition and family involvement.

SOCCER SKILLS & DRILLS *NEW*

YMCA Soccer Skills & Drills is designed for players looking to fine tune their training and take the next step in their game.  Players will develop individual skills by focusing on the fundamentals which are further applied in activities, drills and mini-games.  Our training will help players build confidence and encourage teamwork before stepping back on the pitch next season.  Classes will be limited in size allowing our instructors to focus on each player.

TINY DIVERS *NEW*

This class introduces young athletes to the fundamentals of diving in a non-aquatic environment, using our unique springfloor studio built especially for the Marlins Dive Club.  Tiny divers will build off of gymnastics fundamentals to learn proper technique, form and balance that will establish a strong foundation for aquatic based diving down the road.

LITTLE DRIBBLERS *NEW*

This class introduces the fundamentals of passing, dribbling, and shooting on adjustable hoops with small balls.   Instructors will lead young athletes through drills that promote hand eye coordination, team building, and all around fun.

BASEBALL SKILLS & DRILLS *NEW*

YMCA Baseball Skills & Drills is geared towards players seeking to develop the basic skills of the game: fielding, throwing and hitting.  Players will develop individual skills by focusing on strategic exercises designed to strengthen their form.  Players will then apply these fundamentals in activities and drills.  Our training is designed to prepare players so that they enter the spring season in stride.  Classes will be limited in size allowing our instructors to focus on each player.

FLOOR HOCKEY

Empower your child through hockey. Classes introduce players to the basic skills of “puck-handling”, passing and shooting during the first half of the class, followed by a fun scrimmage during the second half; age adjusted rules are used as necessary. Emphasis is on fun and learning.

Y WARRIORS

Improve your strength and stamina for any activity. This fun workout consists of sports drills, obstacle courses, jump rope, circuits, games and fun! Get moving!

TEEN WELLNESS PASS CERTIFICATION

The YMCA of Greenwich Wellness Center is available to teens 15 years or older. Teens between the ages of 13-14 may earn a wellness “PASS” for usage at select times and days by completing a comprehensive training. During each session, trainers will provide an orientation to equipment usage and safety, as well as base fitness parameters and programs.  Trainers will also provide wellness and nutrition tips along with workout regimes suitable for growing athletes of this age. FOR YMCA OF GREENWICH MEMBERS ONLY. 

Pre-requisites for earning a YMCA of Greenwich wellness “PASS” are completion of one of the following:

  • 10 (30 minute) one-on-one private training sessions.
  • 10 (30 minute) semi-private training sessions.

Once students have completed all sessions and demonstrated competence, they may use the wellness center during the following times:

  • Daily, from 3-5pm, on their own
  • Anytime with an adult 21+

This program is also designed for young adults who simply want to learn how to work out correctly and safely while under the supervision of a YMCA certified personal trainer.
